Mary Ellen Iskenderian
Mary Ellen Iskenderian, president and CEO of Women's World Banking (WWB), is a long-time champion of women's economic empowerment. Under her guidance, WBB provides hands-on technical services and strategic support to top-performing microfinance institutions and banks in 28 developing countries, with a mission to open access to responsible financial services to low-income women entrepreneurs. Iskenderian joined WWB in 2006 after serving for 17 years in numerous leadership positions at the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group. Named NYU Stern's Distinguished Citi Fellow in Leadership and Ethics in 2009, she has been profiled in Forbes magazine and the Wall Street Journal and is frequently quoted in the media. Iskenderian is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the board of Kashf Microfinance Bank in Pakistan, and the Microfinance Advisory Board of Kiva Microfunds.
