Haiyan Wang is managing partner of the China India Institute, a research and consulting organization that helps corporations build their presence in the emerging Chinese and Indian markets. She has co-authored two highly acclaimed books—Getting China and India Right and The Quest for Global Dominance—and writes a regular column for BusinessWeek. A native of China, Wang was among the first group of students to focus on international business after the government opened its economy in the 1980s. She began her career in the United States as a management consultant at Kepner-Tregoe, specializing in strategic decisionmaking, complex project management, and organizational process redesign. Her clients included some of the largest corporations in the US and Asia, such as Johnson & Johnson, Corning, Sprint, and the Singapore-based Far East Ship Yard. Wang has also served as director of business development at E-Steel Corporation, and as a senior marketing executive at PTI Inc., a global manufacturer of home décor products.
