An alumna of both the Simmons School of Management and the School of Library and Information Science, Helen G. Drinan has been president of the University since 2008. During her tenure, she has guided the school to new levels of competitive strength financially, academically, and operationally, cementing its status as a premier institution for women scholars. An ardent advocate for women’s education as a pathway to leadership, she is a member of several organizations working to empower women, including the Advisory Council of the Women in Public Service Project, 2020 Women on Boards, and the Massachusetts Women’s Forum. Before her appointment at Simmons, Drinan had a highly successful career in the private and nonprofit sectors, with stints as senior vice president of human resources at Caritas Christi Health Care, president and CEO of the Society of Human Resources Management, and executive vice president of human resources for BankBoston. She is currently an appointed member of the President’s Trust of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, has served on the Commonwealth’s Court Management Advisory Board, and is a former vice chair of the board of directors of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.
