For more than 100 years, a Simmons education has integrated professional preparation, intellectual exploration, and community orientation. We value the many dimensions of identity — including race, class, ethnicity, and sexual identity — and reflect that in our curriculum, affiliated organizations, and community partnerships.

For the past 40 years, Simmons has sponsored the Simmons Leadership Conference. Considered to be the premier women’s leadership conference in the world, the Simmons Leadership Conference attracts over 4,000 middle and senior level women from companies and organizations across the country and around the globe.

Each year, our speakers are prominent women who are role models and thought leaders on issues relevant to experiences and concerns of women in the workplace and the world. We ask our speakers to tell their stories so others are inspired to reach higher to achieve their personal and professional goals.

The Simmons Leadership Conference furthers the mission of Simmons University founder, John Simmons — to enable women to acquire independent livelihoods. The Conference is a non-profit fundraiser for graduate scholarships at Simmons University and as such, helps ensure the viability of women’s education for generations to come.

Past speakers include: Madeline Albright, Maya Angelou, Christiane Amanpour, Charlene Barshefsky, Benazir Bhutto, Cherie Booth Blair, Maxine Clark, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Geena Davis, Viola Davis, America Ferrera, Geraldine Ferraro, Carly Fiorina, Rana Foroohar, Marta Fox, Whoopie Goldberg, Donna Karan, Billie Jean King, Sallie Krawcheck, Sherry Lansing, Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah, Pat Mitchell, Denise Morrison, Rita Moreno, Anne Mulcahy, Josie Natorie, Queen Noor, Michele Norris, Michelle Obama, Mary Robinson, Janet Reno, Jehan Sadat, Zainab Salbi, Anna Deavere Smith, Judy Smith, Diane von Furstenberg, Meg Whitman, Oprah Winfrey, Sheryl WuDunn and many more.
